I am a mixed media artist and oil painter splitting my time between Almere and Amsterdam. While my background is originally in photography, I found my true voice in painting about three years ago as a self-taught artist. My work is deeply personal. Living with PTSD and the physical realities of chronic illness has reshaped how I see the world, and art has become my way of navigating that landscape.
I work primarily with oil and acrylics, often incorporating tactile elements like rope and fabric to add physical weight and texture to the canvas. For me, painting is a process of translation. I explore themes of human emotion—both the collective feelings we all share and the specific, often difficult, internal journeys we take alone.
Whether I am creating a self-portrait or a more abstract piece, the goal is to portray the cycle of healing: the struggle for acceptance, the persistence of hope through darkness, and the courage to sit with that darkness when necessary.
My process is a mix of careful design and raw intuition. I often need to immerse myself in a specific emotional state—using music, meditation, or my own natural experiences—before I can paint. I want my viewers to look at my work and recognize themselves in it. I want you to feel seen, to know you are not alone, and to experience the full spectrum of emotion, from unease to profound calm.
